TOKYO, January 24, 2020 - COACH A, specialized in the organizational development based on executive coaching, announced that it acquired all shares in Coach U, Inc. and three affiliated companies all located in the United States.
About Coach U
Coach U founded in 1992 is the world's first coach training organization. The company has systematized coaching as a communication tool that "anyone can use". In the days when there was no occupation as a coach, Coach U has contributed to the development of coaching by training people to become professional coaches.
The late founder of Coach U, Mr. Thomas J. Leonard was also the founder of International Coaching Federation (ICF), a global coach qualification body with over 35,000 members worldwide. Coach U's training program is also recognized as one of the first programs in the world to be accredited by ICF (Accredited Coach Training Program: ACTP). (Currently, there are more than 300 ACTP programs worldwide.) In addition to North America, Coach U provides services in South America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.
Further Expanding Business Globally
COACH 21, the predecessor of COACH A, signed a license agreement with Coach U in 1997 and started offering a coach training program. The program is the first in Japan to be accredited as ACTP by ICF. COACH A has branch offices in New York, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Bangkok to provide the organizational development through coaching globally.
With this acquisition, COACH A will accelerate the globalization of its business and provide unrivaled services by integrating the company's coaching resources with Coach U's resources and global network.
